du Plooy.paf: He came out on the ship "Berg China" in 1688. Pierre, the brother of Jeane, was later the owner of the farm "Cabriere". He married Anna Fouche, who died in 1713 and remarried Maria Verdeau, daughter of Hercule Verdeau and they had 6 children. He died on the 28 October 1723. Pierre and his brother, Jean, were the progenitors (stamvaders) of Jordaan family in South Africa. They were French Huguenots from Cabrière-d'Aigues, Provence.
They both were 24 years old when they arrived in the Cape on the ship "Berg China" in 1688 with their mother, the widow Jeanne Marthe Jourdan. The ship sailed from Rotterdam on 20 March 1688 and arrived at Table Bay on 4 Aug 1688.
In 1694 he received the farm "Cabrière" in Oliphants Hoek from Simon van der Stel, who was requested by the French Huguenots to provide them with better farms. According to his will, this farm was inherited by his son, Joseph. Pierre and his second wife, Marie Verdeau, wrote their will on 6 May 1719. According to this will his age was given as between 56 - 57 years, while Marie alleged that she was 19 years old.
BIOGRAPHY: Pierre JOURDAN,was a French Huguenot who arrived in South Africa as a 24 year old on the ship "Berg China". He lived on the farm Cabriere in the district of Franschoek and at his death left behind 6 children born from his first marriage. He married Maria Verdeau in 1721 after the death of his first wife in 1713.
