Married 1: abt 1724 Gerhardus Oosthuyzen s.o. Johannes Oosthuyzen from Weert and Johanna Maartens from Grypskerk. They had 1 daughter Sara, bap. Paarl 23.12.1725, marr: Johannes (Salomon) Pienaar.
Married 2: Hercules du Preez. They had a son : Andries bap. Paarl 8.11.1733 marr: Hester Ferreira
Married 3: abt 1740 (onw) Dirk Marx from Holtsweiler in Germany. No definite clarity exists whether they were in fact legally married, but from his wills it appears that they were not. And no trace of marriage records could be found in any of the church archives. Because of his hunting and farming activities well beyond established communities it is
assumed that they lived as man and wife and they were never legally married. They had 6 children.

Op 10 September 1733 kry Dorothea 'n bevel "veniam agendi' teen haar eggenoot Gerrit Oosthuizen. Dit het beteken opheffing van maritale mag, iets ongehoord in daardie dae. Sewe dae later doen sy ook aansoek om skeiding van bed en tafel omdat hy haar sou verlaat het.Gerrit se^ nee, sy het hom verlaat.Die aansoek word toegestaan. Let asseblief daarop dat Dorothea se seun by die wewenaar Hercules du Preez F/sn op 8.11.1733 te Drakenstein gedoop is met opmerking "moeder is geechte vrouw van Gerrit van Oosthuizen" Op 8.1.1741 word Dorothea se oudste kind by Marx in Kaapstad gedoop en nou neem Gerrit sy wraak.Op 5.1.1741 vra hy die Raad van Justisie om egskeiding met die reg om weer te trou, maar sy mag nie weer trou solank as wat hy leef nie, omdat sy skuldig was aan owerspel.Gerrit is dan ook op 21.1.1742 weer getroud en eers in 1762 oorlede. Op hierdie wyse is Dirk en Dorothea verhoed om, soos die gebruikdestyds in sulke gevalle was, met die doop van die eerste kind (drie dae later) te trou. Inligting Prof.F.W.Marx,Jeffreysbaai.

Although she was only married to Gerrit Oosthuizen, Dorothea had children from 3 different men.
On 19 Sep 1733 she applied for a separation from Gerrit, but to continue living together with him. She alleged that her husband had left her. His defense was that she had purposefully left him and had a child with another man.
On 5 Jan 1741 Gerrit applied to divorce her based on her unfaithfulness. The application was granted and she had to bear all legal costs.
She had her illegitimate son from Hercules du Preez baptised on 8 Nov 1733 without Gerrit's consent.
Her eldest child by Dirk Marx, Theodorus, was baptised 3 days after her divorce from Gerrit.
