- RUSTFONTEIN, Tvl. Historic farm in the Volksrust district, 27 km west of that town, on the road to Vrede. It was purchased by Gen. P. J. Joubert from J. H. du Preez in 1859 and named Rustfontein by the General. The dwelling-house built by him still stands. The burial vault, containing the remains of Gen. Joubert and a further two generations with the initials P. J., and of their wives, is preserved. The original farm of 3417 ha is subdivided into two equal parts, one being the property of a great-grand daughter of Joubert and the other belonging in equal parts to three separate owners. The former halt on the road motor service from Volksrust to Vrede was named Generaalsrus by J. P. J. Joubert, son of the General. Since the road was diverted this halt is no longer used and today the farm is served by the halt Pragpraal, 28 km from Volksrust.
